Ensimmäistä kertaa katselen Ylen TV1:ta meidän telkkarista. Nettilähetykseksi tämän paljastaa vain se, että toistaiseksi kolmeen kertaan olen joutunut käynnistämään lähetyksen uudestaan. Muuten ei ole laadussa valittamista.
Tätä on vaan melko tylsää katsoa yksin, vain Fazerminttejä* seurana. Eihän resitentin kättelyn katsominen Suomessakaan mikään huippu-jännitysnäytelmä ole, mutta siellä se kuuluu vähän enemmän asiaan, ja yleensä vielä on seuraa jonka kanssa ruotia vuoden juhlapukumuotia. (Sukkahousuista tehty kierrätyspuku taisi olla vuoden paras! Vaan todenpuhuen pidin kovasti vuoden luontokuvaajan vaimon lumme-puvusta.) Ja kukapa olisi uskonut, että Suomi-ikävä iskee siitä, kun puoli yhdeksän uutisten tunnari pläjähtää ruudulle...
*Fazermintiä myydään meidän lähikaupassa. Ensimmäinen, ja ehkä viimeinen kerta kun ostan niitä ylikalliiseen hintaan. Pakkauksen pölyisyydestä voisi päätellä jotain, parasta ennen -päiväystä ei löydy... Suklaa maistuu vain vähän vanhentuneelta. Loput karkit ripustankin kuusenkoristeiksi.

As you can guess from my title, today is Finnish Independence day. And from what I hear, it's the snowiest independence day ever (weather statistics extend beyond 1917). I can imagine how peculiar it sounds to outsiders that the high point of Independence Day to most is watching the President shake hands with 1800 people, welcoming them to the annual reception/ball at the President's Palace.
Despite being all this way away, I can join in with this tradition. I'm watching a live stream, on our tv even, and I can't complain about the quality. Only thing that tells me it's not a tv broadcast is that I had to restart the stream three times.
Yeah, this is rather boring, especially with no one to criticize the dresses with (recycling is the theme - someone had a dress made of old stockings. But no, it didn't look like the first image that evokes. :P)
To celebrate Finnish independence I did buy Finnish candy, Fazermint from our local store. I probably won't do it again, considering the price which is more than three times of that in Finland for the same candy. Also as I could've deducted from how dusty the box is (couldn't find a best before date) that the candy past its best days. But even better: I'll hang the candy to decorate our tree! :D
